Charles Dickens became internationally famous within a couple of years of his first novel being published, and he remained a much-lauded celebrity and social commentator until his death in 1870. With international influence then and now, and a gift for storytelling and creating captivating characters, Dickens continues to be one of the world’s greatest, and most empathetic, writers on childhood.
