Following a graduation ceremony on a sunny afternoon at The Barbican Centre, graduates and their families made their way to Senate House.  The evening began with a welcome from Vice-Chancellor Professor Wendy Thomson CBE, who shared her affection for Senate House, home of the àËÅöÊÓƵ.  

Alumni and guests enjoyed an evening of food, drinks and networking with fellow graduates, academics and University staff in the beautiful setting of Senate House’s Macmillan and Beveridge Halls.

Alumni had the chance to meet University course leaders, lecturers and staff, including Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Mary Stiasny. Professor Stiasny is retiring in June, so this was her final Alumni Celebration event. The event also featured the ‘Gatsby Salon’ in Chancellor’s Hall – an exhibition on F.Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, led by the School of Advanced Study (SAS). As part of the exhibition, Professor Sarah Churchwell, Director of Public Engagement at SAS, gave a short talk about jazz-age America in The Great Gatsby.

There was also the opportunity for graduates to chat with academic staff about their University experience and to discuss future academic options.  

Thank you to everyone who attended the event. It was wonderful to see so many graduates from so many different countries.
