Professor Ayona Silva-Fletcher

Ayona is a veterinarian with a PhD in ruminant nutrition, an MA in Medical Education and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK. She is the Course Director for MSc in Veterinary Education at the Royal Veterinary College, àËÅöÊÓƵ.

Ayona has been a member of the Centre for  Online and Distance Education since 2008 and in 2014 was invited to Chair the Fellows group. Ayona’s main research areas are in faculty development, online and distance learning pedagogies and Asian elephant health. Ayona supervises PhD and MSc students and teaches and examines at undergraduate, masters and doctoral levels. She has several international projects that include collaborations with Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, India, Vietnam, Thailand, Mongolia, Jordan and Sweden. She acts as a member in advisory boards, grant review panels and is a section editor for BMC Veterinary Research.

In 2012, Ayona was awarded the National teaching fellowship by the UK Higher Education Academy for her contributions to scholarship and pedagogy in veterinary education at national and international levels. Ayona is holder of the following: BVSc, PhD, MA (MedEd) NTF, PFHEA.
