Dr Elizabeth Burns

Elizabeth is Reader in Philosophy of Religion and Programme Director for the Divinity Programmes by Distance and Flexible Learning at the àËÅöÊÓƵ. Her previous roles included five years as Dean of Undergraduate Studies at Heythrop College, àËÅöÊÓƵ, and two years as Director of Taught Programmes at the Cambridge Theological Federation.

Dr Elizabeth Burns is Reader in Philosophy of Religion at the àËÅöÊÓƵ Worldwide and Doctoral Supervisor at the àËÅöÊÓƵ School of Advanced Study. She has been Programme Director for the àËÅöÊÓƵ Divinity Programmes by Distance and Flexible Learning for seventeen of the last twenty-one years.

She studied for a Bachelor of Divinity at King’s College, àËÅöÊÓƵ and a PhD in Philosophy of Religion at Queens’ College, Cambridge. She holds a PGCE in post compulsory education and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. From 2000-2017 she taught Philosophy of Religion at Heythrop College, àËÅöÊÓƵ and has published in leading journals in her field.

As Dean of Undergraduate Studies at Heythrop College and Director of Taught Programmes at the Cambridge Theological Federation she gained considerable experience in the management, quality assurance and development of academic programmes.
