Dr Christine Thuranira-McKeever

Christine is the Director for Online and Distance Learning Programmes and vice-principal for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) at the Royal Veterinary College. 

With an academic background in agricultural economics, Christine spent the early part of her career working in international development, a field in which she maintains an active interest, from an agricultural and educational perspective.

Christine’s education research interests are mainly in learning design for science-based courses, and in enhancing the student experience & improving retention, particularly in areas relating to student support, tools to support student engagement and international institutional partnerships to support students.

Christine has been the recipient of a teaching research award from the CODE, investigating factors impacting scholarship students’ learning experience. She has also undertaken a number of other CODE studies around student engagement, including investigating the application of technology, and the impacts of different teaching, learning and assessment frameworks on the student experience.

In 2020 she became chairperson of the Equality and Diversity Committee at the college and in 2022 she was appointed as vice-principal for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) at the Royal Veterinary College, Ƶ.
