As a Fellow of CODE, Christina works in programme and course design for academic professional development . She is also tutor on the Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education course.
Christina has worked as a lecturer, and researcher within the àËÅöÊÓƵ for 25 years in a variety of roles unified by interests in opening access to education and academic development. Prior to joining the CODE, she was based in the Department of Psychosocial studies at Birkbeck College for seven years, in the dual roles of lecturer in Higher Education and programme lead of the PGCHE and the Graduate Teaching certificate courses. The pedagogy of online and blended learning. Christina ‘s work is driven by the question of how to address transactional distance between participants in distance learning and online learning contexts. Her current interest is on how pedagogy, learning design and process management can be configured to support the responsiveness of conversational learning in sustainable ways.
Exploring dialogism in teaching and learning with respect to three aspects of Higher Education:
- Argumentation and the development of reasoning through engaging with alternative perspectives.
- Intercultural education wherein dialogism is a vehicle in support of a curriculum of multiple perspectives.
- Social Inclusivity - inclusivity involves familiarity with and an acceptance of difference, which is supported and mediated by dialogue.
