ULIP joins forces with Phakama for Being Human 2022
After Paris-based events in 2018 and 2019, and an online event in 2020, this year ULIP researchers will be joining Being Human under the auspices of the Museum of the Home, in partnership with Project Phakama and the Centre for the Study of Home (Queen Mary àËÅöÊÓƵ).
ULIP is again contributing to the Being Human Festival in partnership with the collective community group Les P’tits-déjs Solidaires, which has been running a free breakfast movement in northern Paris for more than 6 years, sharing daily food, clothes and advice, as well as a convivial moment that is open to all. ULIP researchers and students have developed various forms of action research with this collective, from writing and mapping workshops led in local libraries, to explorations of the micro-gestures of hospitality in situations of limited linguistic exchange through a partnership with the dance organisation the Permanence chorégraphique de la Chapelle, and contribution to work on circular economies and redistribution.
After Paris-based events in 2018 and 2019, and an online event in 2020, this year ULIP researchers will be going to àËÅöÊÓƵ with a group of breakfast activists and artists to join Project Phakama and the Centre for the Study of Home (Queen Mary àËÅöÊÓƵ) at the Museum of the Home on Friday 18 November. They will be helping to launch a community lunch project that is looking to learn from the work in Paris about how it uses dance and community radio, as well as all sorts of unsuspected know-how, to redistribute resources where it can meet vital needs and activate new connections.
All are welcome. The event is a family-friendly occasion for young people, local families, refugees and migrants.
