Information for Academic Contractors

The appointment of Academic Contractors is supported by a formal contract for services, which includes a Register of Interests declaration.

The àËÅöÊÓƵ will appoint Board of Examiner members, following receipt of nominations from Federation Members. This will happen in a timely manner and in advance of any members’ duties to the Board. Before any work can be undertaken, even if evidence has already been provided to a Federation Member of the àËÅöÊÓƵ, Academic Contractors must have provided the àËÅöÊÓƵ’s Academic Contracts team with satisfactory evidence of the right to work in the UK.

Categories of Academic Contractors

All Academic Contractors will receive a contract for service by email, that on the recommendation of a Federation Member of the àËÅöÊÓƵ they are invited to act as an Academic Contractor under one of the following categories:

Right to work check

The àËÅöÊÓƵ is required by law to ensure Academic Contractors have the right to work in the UK. Before any work can be undertaken, or any payment made, even if evidence has already been provided to a Federation Member of the àËÅöÊÓƵ, Academic Contractors must have provided the àËÅöÊÓƵ’s Academic Contracts team with satisfactory evidence of the right to work.

Acceptance of Appointment

To formalise the contract for service with the àËÅöÊÓƵ and to ensure that conflicts of interest do not arise, all Academic Contractors must complete a Register of Interests declaration as part of the acceptance of the contract.

àËÅöÊÓƵ Academic Contractors who have relationships with third party teaching institutions (e.g., through teaching, revision classes, staff training, consultancy or inspection) for which payments or other benefits have been received should treat this as an interest to be declared. Relationships with agents and/or other third parties in the same field (e.g., publishers) should also be declared..

Acceptance of Appointment - Online Register of Interest Form

The online Register of Interest form allows Academic Contractors to accept an invitation to act as an Academic Contractor for one of the àËÅöÊÓƵ Worldwide Programmes, as laid out in the contract for service, issued by email. The information contained in the covering email and in the contract for service will assist the Academic Contractor in completing the online form.

Do you have any interests to declare?

The Board of the àËÅöÊÓƵ Worldwide Academic Committee and the University have an obligation to ensure that conflicts of interest, whether actual or perceived, do not arise. The Register of Interests is therefore intended to protect the àËÅöÊÓƵ, the Federation Members and the individual Academic Contractor concerned.

In order to proceed the Academic Contractor must choose whether they need to disclose any interests, including the disclosure of any relationship with institutions teaching àËÅöÊÓƵ Worldwide Programmes, agents and/or other third parties.

Payment of Fees

The University requires specific information from each Academic Contractor in order to register the individual on the payroll system. This will enable payments to be processed by our Fees Office.

Fees will be paid directly to the individuals bank account. Payments of fees due are made when a confirmed acceptance and Register of Interests form, satisfactory evidence of the right to work in the UK and payroll details have been received.

External and Intercollegiate Examiners

Formal report

External and Intercollegiate Examiners are required to submit a formal report to the University within four weeks of the final meeting of the Board of Examiners.
